Family Style Dining Program for Nursing Home Residents
A family style dining program which began Dec. 27 for residents at Early Memorial Nursing Home has been proclaimed it a resounding success!
Residents are treated to a complete menu for the noon meal in the dinning room. They are able to pick and choose menu items as in a restaurant. The staff relays the menu choices to the dietary staff and dinner is then served to the resident.
The family style dining program is presently available only during the noon meal but there are plans to broaden it to the evening meal as well.
"The program was initiated to empower our residents to make independent choices in food preferences and increase satisfaction with their meals," stated Deed Franklin, nursing home director of nurses.
